A Dallas Tamil Church Bible Study
The goal of this study is to study the enemy that exists who is a defeated foe. He will be eventually pushed into the lake of fire, but until then roars like a lion to devour as many as he can. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil and gave us authority to cast him out of our lives.

Satan and his signs (gprhR + mtDila milahsk;)
Introduction
God gives us the ability to detect the influence of demons in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Christians, if they do not have fellowship with God and if they ignore participation with the local church, can be influenced by demons. Strong demonic influence can lead to demonic oppression and eventually to demonization. Jesus, through His work on the Cross, gave us the ability to recognize demonic activity and power to rebuke the demons so that people can be delivered and set free.
Satan and his signs (gprhR + mtDila milahsk;)
1. People with demonic influence exhibit bizarre and often violent actions, especially opposition to the preaching of the gospel (Grudem, 2000, p.425). When Jesus came into the synagogue, a man with unclean spirit cried out.
khw;F 1:23. mtu;fSila n[gMyaj;jpNy mRj;j MtpAs;s xU kD\d; ,Ue;jhd;.
- And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

- Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25. mjw;F ,NaR: eP Ngrhky; ,tid tpl;Lg; Gwg;gl;Lg;Ngh vd;W mij mjl;bdhu;.
- And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

- And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
2. Violent activities that tend towards the destruction of the affected person is a clear indication of demonic activity. For example, A man brought his son, who exhibited violent reactions from childhood. Jesus recognized the spirit (dumb spirit) and rebuked it and cast it out.

3. Jesus identified the group of demons (e.g. ‘legion’) who tried to destroy a man. Jesus did not allow the demons to destroy a man, although he allowed them to enter the pigs and destroy them. Satan always want to destroy God’s creation and especially human beings who are made in the image of God.

- And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
4. Jesus identified spirits behind sickness in many situations. In few places, He just prayed for them and healed them.
- Jesus just healed people as in Matt 4:24.
kj;NjA 4:24. mtUila fPu;j;jp rPupah vq;Fk; gpurpj;jkhapw;W. mg;nghOJ gytpj tpahjpfisAk; NtjidfisAk; mile;jpUe;j rfy gpzpahspfisAk;> gprhR gpbj;jtu;fisAk; re;jpuNuhfpfisAk; jpkpu;thjf;fhuiuAk; mtuplj;jpy; nfhz;Lte;jhu;fs;. mtu;fisr; nrh];jkhf;fpdhu;.
- And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
- Jesus gives a hint of demonic influence in the affliction as in Luke 13:11
11. mg;nghOJ gjpndl;L tU\kha;g; gytPdg;gLj;Jk; Mtpiaf; nfhz;l xU ];jpuP mq;NfapUe;jhs;. mts; vt;tsTk; epkpuf;$lhj $dpahapUe;jhs;.

- And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13. mts;Nky; jkJ iffis itj;jhu;; clNd mts; epkpu;e;J> Njtid kfpikg;gLj;jpdhs;.
- And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
16. ,Njh> rhj;jhd; gjpndl;L tU\kha;f; fl;bapUe;j Mgpufhkpd; Fkhuj;jpahfpa ,tis Xa;Tehspy; ,e;jf;fl;bypUe;J mtpo;j;JtplNtz;bajpy;iyah vd;whu;.
- And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
5. A person with demonic influence will say blatantly false doctrinal statements (Grudem, 2000, p. 426).
- Some people might say that Jesus has not come in the flesh. This is another indication of demonic activity in that person.
I Nahthd; 4:2. NjtMtpia ePq;fs; vjpdhNy mwpayhnkd;why;: khk;rj;jpy; te;j ,NaRfpwp];Jit mwpf;ifgz;Zfpw ve;j MtpAk; Njtdhy; cz;lhapUf;fpwJ.
- Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3. khk;rj;jpy; te;j ,NaRfpwp];Jit mwpf;ifgz;zhj ve;j MtpAk; Njtdhy; cz;lhdjy;y; tUnkd;W ePq;fs; Nfs;tpg;gl;l me;jpf;fpwp];JtpDila Mtp mJNt> mJ ,g;nghOJk; cyfj;jpy; ,Uf;fpwJ.
- And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
- Some people claim to be apostles when they are not. This is another indication of the demonic influence.
II nfhupe;jpau; 11:13. mg;gbg;gl;ltu;fs; fs;s mg;Ngh];jyu;fs;> fglKs;s Ntiyahl;fs;> fpwp];JtpDila mg;Ngh];jyupd; Nt\j;ijj; jupj;Jf;nfhz;ltu;fshapUf;fpwhu;fs;.
- For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14. mJ Mr;rupaky;y> rhj;jhDk; xspapd; J}jDila Nt\j;ijj; jupj;Jf;nfhs;thNd.
- And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15. Mifahy; mtDila Copaf;fhuUk; ePjpapd; Copaf;fhuUila Nt\j;ijj; jupj;Jf;nfhz;lhy; mJ Mr;rupaky;yNt; mtu;fs; KbT mtu;fs; fpupiafSf;Fj;jf;fjhapUf;Fk;.
- Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
6. A person with demonic influence can say right scriptures or facts but with wrong motives. For example, the woman with the spirit of divination claimed Paul as the true servant of God but caused disturbance to the preaching of the gospel.
16. ehq;fs; n[gk;gz;Zfpw ,lj;Jf;Fg; Nghifapy; Fwpnrhy;y VTfpw Mtpiaf;nfhz;bUe;J> Fwpnrhy;Yfpwjpdhy; jd; v[khd;fSf;F kpFe;j Mjhaj;ij cz;lhf;fpd xU ngz; vq;fSf;F vjpu;g;gl;lhs;.
- And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17. mts; gTiyAk; vq;fisAk; gpd;njhlu;e;J te;J: ,e;j kD\u; cd;djkhd NjtDila Copaf;fhuu;> ,ul;rpg;gpd; topia ekf;F mwptpf;fpwtu;fs; vd;W rj;jkpl;lhs;.
- The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation.
18. ,g;gb mNefehs; nra;Jnfhz;Lte;jhs;. gTy; rpdq;nfhz;L> jpUk;gpg;ghu;j;J: eP ,tis tpl;Lg;Gwg;gLk;gb ,NaRfpwp];Jtpd; ehkj;jpdhNy cdf;Ff; fl;lisapLfpNwd; vd;W me;j MtpAlNd nrhd;dhd;; me;NeuNk mJ Gwg;gl;Lg;Nghapw;W.
- And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
7. Jesus also gives us spirit of discernment to identify demonic influence, by the emotional and/or spiritual uneasiness or perception of the presence of evil (Grudem, 2000, p.426)
I nfhupe;jpau; 12:10. NtnwhUtDf;F mw;Gjq;fisr;nra;Ak; rf;jpAk;> NtnwhUtDf;Fj; jPu;f;fjuprdk; ciuj;jYk;> NtnwhUtDf;F Mtpfisg; gFj;jwpjYk;> NtnwhUtDf;Fg; gw;gy ghi\fisg;NgRjYk;> NtnwhUtDf;Fg; ghi\fis tpahf;fpahdk;gz;ZjYk; mspf;fg;gLfpwJ.
- To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
Conclusion
Through demonic activity, persons are mislead, and eventually destroyed. Sometimes, there may be some degree of uncertainty in our perception of the presence of the demonic influence. HOwever as we grow in spiritual maturity and sensitivity, we will gain experience in identifying the demonic influence and in setting people free. In our next lesson, we will see how every believer is equipped with authority and power, not only to identify but to cast out those demons.
