A Dallas Tamil Church Bible Study

The goal of this study is to study the enemy that exists who is a defeated foe. He will be eventually pushed into the lake of fire, but until then roars like a lion to devour as many as he can. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil and gave us authority to cast him out of our lives.

Satan’s Three speeches
(rhj;jhdpd; %d;W ciufs;)

Introduction

Throughout the bible, Satan speaks only three times. Each time he speaks, he wants to bring sin and to destroy. John warns that, “the devil has sinned from the beginning’ (1 John 1:8). Not only has he sinned, but he wants everyone to sin and to rebel against God and fall like he did. He uses primarily 3 subtle devices such as the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Paul says, “we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor 2:11)

    1. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

    1. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
  7. Comments:
    1. Eve saw that the tree was good for food. She lusted for that food thus yielding to lust of the flesh
    2. Eve saw that it was pleasant to the eyes. The lust of the eyes feeds the lust of the flesh. For example, adultery first begins with seeing what is not permissible by God. Later it feeds the lust of the flesh thus bringing into a person’s life
    3. Eve was prideful. Eve wanted to be like God, just Satan who said,

  11. Comments:
    1. Jesus overcame the lust of the flesh. When He was hungry, He still depended on God and not give place to Satan.
    2. Jesus overcame the lust of the eyes. When Satan showed him all the kingdoms of the world, Jesus would not bow down to Satan. Jesus knew He was and Creator should not bow down to a creature.
    3. Jesus overcame the pride of life. While Satan tried to tempt Jesus jump and gain immediate glorification, Jesus waited till the Cross is over, when God Himself seated him above all principalities and powers, and gave Him a name above every name.

Conclusion

Devil has sinned from the beginning. He continues to drag people who are naive into his kingdom. By standing against the devil using the Word of God (Sword of the Spirit) and Prayer, we can overcome the devil and his subtle devices (the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life).

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

By quoting the word of God, just like Jesus did, we can overcome the strongholds of Satan in the areas of lusts of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. They do not come from the God, but from the god of this world. When we do God’s will in our lives by keeping ourselves from sin, we will be steadfast and established.
