Demonology

A Dallas Tamil Church Bible Study

The goal of this study is to study the enemy that exists who is a defeated foe. He will be eventually pushed into the lake of fire, but until then roars like a lion to devour as many as he can. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil and gave us authority to cast him out of our lives.

Combating Satan with Breastplate of righteousness
(rhj;jhid vjpHj;Jg; Nghuhl ePjpapd; ftrk;)

Introduction
Failure to live a righteous life opens the door for the demonic. God wants us to put on the breastplate of righteousness. Our old self has to die. We have to put on the new man. God has made us alive with Christ.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Breastplate of righteousness

1. What is a breastplate?
  1. Roman breastplate covered the thorax indicating the chest or trunk. It protected the soldier’s vital organs. A typical Roman soldier’s breastplate was a metal plate worn over a leather garment (Richards, 2013, p.98). The spiritual breastplate of the Christians is righteousness. Each individual must put on the breastplate of righteousness.
    1. vNgrpau; 6:14.
      rj;jpak; vd;Dk; fr;iria cq;fs; miuapy; fl;bdtu;fshAk; ePjpnad;Dk; khu;f;ftrj;ijj; jupj;jtu;fshAk;;

      Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

2. What is righteousness through conformity?
  1. Moses talks of righteousness that comes from keeping the law (righteousness through conformity)
    1. cghfkk; 6:25.
      ek;Kila Njtdhfpa fu;j;ju; ekf;Ff; fl;lisapl;lgbNa ehk; mtu; rKfj;jpy; ,e;j vy;yhf;fl;lisfspd;gbAk; nra;ar; rhtjhdkhapUe;jhy;> ekf;F ePjpahapUf;Fk; vd;W nrhy;thahf.

      And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

3. What is imputed righteousness?
  1. Abraham believed in God and righteousness was imputed to him because of his faith in the monotheistic God..
    1. Mjpahfkk; 15:6.
      mtd; fu;j;jiu tpRthrpj;jhd;> mij mtu; mtDf;F ePjpahf vz;zpdhu;.

      And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
  2. Apart from righteousness through works, the new testament talks of righteousness that comes through faith. Righteousness was imputed not only to Abraham, but also to every believer who believes in Jesus Christ, through faith
    1. Nuhku; 4:20.
      NjtDila thf;Fj;jj;jj;ijf; Fwpj;J mtd; mtpRthrkha; re;Njfg;glhky;>

      Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

      And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
    3. 22. Mifahy; mJ mtDf;F ePjpahf vz;zg;gl;lJ.
      And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
    4. 23. mJ mtDf;F ePjpahf vz;zg;gl;lnjd;gJ> mtDf;Fkhj;jpuky;y> ekf;fhfTk; vOjg;gl;bUf;fpwJ.
      Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
    5. 24. ek;Kila fu;j;juhfpa ,NaRit kupj;NjhupypUe;J vOg;gpdtiu tpRthrpf;fpw ekf;Fk; mg;gbNa vz;zg;gLk;.
      But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

4. What is realized righteousness?
  1. It is the righteousness that is lived here and now. We have to put off the old corrupt man and put on the new man now in this life.
    1. vNgrpau; 4:17.
      Mjyhy;> fu;j;jUf;Fs; ehd; cq;fSf;Fr; rhl;rpahfr; nrhy;yp vr;rupf;fpwJ vd;dntdpy;> kw;wg; Gw[hjpfs; jq;fs; tPzhd rpe;ijapNy elf;fpwJNghy ePq;fs; ,dp elthkypUq;fs;.

    7. 23. cq;fs; cs;sj;jpNy Gjpjhd MtpAs;stu;fshfp>
      And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

5. Comparing the Activities of the old self and the new self
  1. Replace falsehood with Speaking truth
  2. Replace anger with ‘do not let the sun go down with anger’
  3. Replace stealing with ‘doing something useful, working’
  4. Replace unwholesome talk with ‘building others up’
  5. Replace bitterness, rage, brawling, slander, malice with ‘being kind and compassionate and forgiving each other’
  6. Replace sexual immorality or any kind of impurity with ‘nothing improper’
  7. Replace obscenity, foolish talk and coarse joking with ‘thanksgiving’

6. Products of the flesh should be replaced with the products of the Spirit

    Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

    Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Conclusion
Realized righteousness is living righteous life through the power of the Holy Spirit here and now. It is possible to walk in love and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit every day, by depending on the Holy Spirit and by meditating on the Word of God. The life of the believer is exciting and is always joyful, when we can put off the old man and put on the new man, for the glory of the Kingdom of God. Satan is defeated whenever we walk according to the Spirit and put of the works of the flesh.
